APRIL-Pont du Gard

April 28
Near Nimes, the Romans constructed this bridge
as part of an aqueduct in the 1st century
- this top level used to transport water
The bridge has 3 levels, the bottom (6 arches) used as a road
and the top (35 arches remaining) an aqueduct Many of Europe's masons left their names on its stonework
One can only guess how old this tree is.
and just how many travellors have used
it for shade over the years
